Yurus are companions to the Zokus within the ChainZoku ecosystem.
They are quirky, futuristic, and deeply tied to the Japanese-inspired vibe of the ChainZoku universe.
Each Yuru has a distinct personality, abilities, and a bit of an unsettling quirk, making them more than just sidekicks.
They are used in quests, gameplay mechanics, and as part of the gamification and storytelling of ChainZoku.
There are currently 6 Yurus in the ecosystem: Squiddy, Marmitoni, Pug-In, BrowBot, Sparkster, and Kitta.
Each Yuru has 5 variants, making a total of 30 options for players.
All Yurus share the same rarity (Rare)
Yurus can be upgraded through event-based questing. For example, 16 Sparkster Jei-Son tickets were handed out through quests for Halloween, allowing the holders to upgrade a Sparkster to a new, Epic rarity skin.
Squiddy: Originates from the Sea of Gamera in Todai City. Likely aquatic-themed with a tech or biological twist.
Marmitoni: A food-themed Yuru with lore tied to a big cooking pan. Marmitoni's biome is linked to food-related environments.
Pug-In: A pug-inspired companion, on a hoverboard. Its specific quirks are yet to be revealed.
BrowBot: A high-tech plasma-powered robot Yuru from Todai City’s secret labs. Known for its hacking and security-bypassing abilities.
Sparkster: Tied to a volcanic biome, with a fiery personality.
Kitta: A cute-looking cat with a plant as a backpack. Details about its lore are still unfolding.
Yuru-Gacha: Yurus are obtained through a Yuru-Gacha, which was one of the rewards of the "Gimme the Loot!" Boxes that came out in December '22.
Players need to feed their Yuru 1 of each Ohayo Bars to unlock them, on the World Quest page.
Yurus play a central role in quests. For example:
Players must own specific Yurus (like Sparkster) to participate in certain quests. Soon, Yurus will be customized, evolved, or combined with items through these quests, adding depth to gameplay.
Some quests involve transforming a Yuru, such as turning Sparkster into Sparkster Jei-son by fulfilling unique conditions.
Each Yuru is designed to have unique traits and quirks, often with a slightly unsettling twist, adding mystery and depth to their personalities.
BrowBot, for example, is described as "high-tech" yet potentially aloof or calculating in its demeanor.
This element of mystery aligns with ChainZoku's narrative tone and the balance between quirky and dark.
Yurus are rendered in a stylized, Overwatch-like aesthetic, consistent with the ChainZoku art direction.
They fit seamlessly into the futuristic and Japanese-inspired environments of Todai City.
User customization for Yurus extends to skins and possible biome-specific adaptations.
